This full year course is designed as an
interdisciplinary, concept oriented course which will provide students with
maximum opportunity to view, analyze, and evaluate the broad themes and
movements which make up American history politically, economically, and
socially. Among the disciplines that will be integrated into this approach will
be political science, economics, geography, and sociology. A topical approach
is taken in the presentation of this course and students will b e required to
keep up with current topics/issues that relate to the academic areas that are
introduced to them in the classroom. This will guarantee continuity in the
course and allow students to analyze similarities and differences between the
past and the present. As required by Illinois law, the students will have an
in-depth study of the Constitution of the United States.
As a result of this course, students will:

and elective courses in United States History, Political Science, Economics,
Geography, and Sociology
- Have increased abilities in critical thinking,

- Examine, in depth, the contributions and

increased awareness of the importance of their individual contributions to the
future of the United States.
