The Whitney M. Young Academic Center, located near downtown Chicago, is one of the finest programs for gifted students in the City of Chicago. For almost three decades, more than 2000 of Chicago's best and brightest have made the Academic Center at Whitney M. Young their school of choice. Simply put, the Academic Center Program follows the principle of acceleration and allows gifted students the opportunity to take courses for high school credit in 7th and 8th grade, and it allows them to take courses for college credit while they are in high school.
